India’s 15-Men Strong Squad for ICC World Cup 2023 – Prediction: The Men’s ICC World Cup 2023 is set to be played from October 5 to November 19 in India and the excitement for the tournament is rising with each passing day. The quadrennial tournament will see best teams from all corners of the world to compete for the elusive title of World Champions in the 50-over format.
The anticipation for the ICC World Cup 2023 is growing among the fans with countries naming their preliminary squads. Australia was the first side to reveal its strong set of players, who are most likely to be part of the World Cup 2023 squad. Following Australia, England also announced its provisional squad for the marquee tournament.
Recently, India has named a 17-men team for the Asia Cup 2023. It’s a no brainer that India’s 15-Men Strong Squad for the ICC World Cup 2023 will be picked from the Asia Cup 2023 squad only, keeping aside the exceptions due to injury concerns.
India’s Asia Cup 2023 squad saw the return of Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul. While Iyer has been deemed completely fit, KL Rahul has suffered a minor blow due to a fresh niggle, which isn’t a dangerous one as said by Indian chief selector Ajit Agarkar.
In a surprise selection, young Tilak Varma has received maiden ODI call-up for the Asia Cup 2023. He impressed everyone with his abilities in the West Indies tour owing to which he has been awarded a seat to the Asia Cup 2023.
Yuzvendra Chahal, meanwhile, has unfortunately missed out of the 17-men squad. Despite having exemplary figures in the white ball format, the Indian management has kept him away from the Asia Cup 2023, which ultimately means that his chances of making to the ICC World Cup 2023 Squad are slim.
The final date for the submission of the ICC World Cup 2023 squad is September 5. All 10 participating nations must announce their squad by September 5 and any changes to the squad after that would require permission from the International Cricket Council (ICC).
As per the rules laid down by the ICC, a team can only name a 15-men squad for the World Cup, unlike Asia Cup which allows 17 player squad.
