India’s Probable Playing11 and Squad for ICC T20 World Cup 2021.
ICC T20 World Cup 2021: BCCI and India are scheduled to host the ICC T20 World Cup 2021. Earlier, the tournament was scheduled in Australia but due to the covid-19 pandemic, it was shifted to India. The marquee ICC event is expected to be held in the window of October-November this year.
The ravaging covid situations in India might hinder the tournament and might get shifted somewhere else. The final call will be taken in July by the BCCI and ICC jointly. UAE is kept as the backup option for the ICC event.
India will be keen on winning the tournament this time. The last ICC T20 World Cup won by India was way back in 2007, which was the inaugural tournament. As the tournament is expected to be held in India, the outfits in blues automatically become the favourites to win.
West Indies are the defending champions of the tournament. They won the ICC T20 World Cup 2016, defeating England.
Although, the squad for the World Cup is yet not announced, here we will try to make the best possible playing 11 for India. These players are almost certain to get named in the squads if any injury concerns are not there.
ICC T20 World Cup 2021 India’s Strongest Probable Playing 11:
Rohit Sharma (VC):
Team India’s limited-overs deputy will be the second name making to the squad after skipper Virat Kohli. He is a consistent name in the Indian colours since making his debut as an opener in 2013.
Sharma is a sweet timer of the ball and is exceptional when it comes to giving good starts. In the last ICC ODI World Cup, he created a record of most number of centuries scored in a single World Cup. He smacked 5 centuries and a half-century in eight games.
Although the formats are different but mind you, he is the man of occasions. He will come harder on most occasions and will ravage the opposition with his sensational shots.

Shikhar Dhawan:
Indian opener southpaw Shikhar Dhawan is another name that will make it to the final list of the ICC T20 World Cup squad. Dhawan had a purple patch in the recent IPL 2021 where he smacked 380 runs in eight games with three half-centuries.
Apart from this, the left-hand right-hand combination always creates problems for the bowlers and are ideal to start with. India might go with Shikhar Dhawan as Rohit’s opening partner.
Also, in the last Australia tour, Dhawan scored 81 runs in 3 games and was second leading run scorer for India.
Virat Kohli (C):
No surprises in this slot, right? Indian skipper Virat Kohli will be leading the charge in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup. He is an absolute match-winner and is in good form lately.
In IPL 2021, he amassed 198 runs in seven games after he promoted himself to open the innings. Also in the last two T20I series against Australia and England, he emerged as the highest run-scorer for India with 134 and 231 runs respectively.
He was also adjudged as the Man of the Series in the recent five games T20I series against England.
His overall T20I stats are evident of the fact that he can turn the tables in one go. He averages over 50 in the shortest format and has brilliant records leading India.
Suryakumar Yadav:
Mumbai Indians (MI) batter Suryakumar Yadav has shown some promising signs as a middle-order batsman. Although, he had to wait long years to get his maiden India call, but when he got one, he grabbed it with both hands open. He is consistent for his franchise Mumbai Indians (MI) in the middle order and scored massive runs.
In the IPL 2021, he contributed with 173 runs while last year’s IPL runs piled up to 480 in 15 innings.
In his debut T20I series against England, he scored a quickfire half-century on his first game. In the 3 games he played, Yadav scored 89 runs.

Rishabh Pant:
The young 23-years old cricketer, Rishabh Pant will keep wickets for India. After the last two series against England and Australia, Pant has evolved himself as one of the valuable assets for the team.
He is in the form of his life right now. He has been amongst the runs lately in the last couple of series.
In the England T20I series, Pant scored 102 runs in four innings while his IPL stats have sharpened with added leadership roles. In the Vivo IPL 2021, Pant plundered 213 runs in eight games which include two half-centuries.
Besides this, he has also improved his skills behind the stumps. He is effective in taking the blinders and has been guiding the bowlers consistently.
Hardik Pandya:
The 27-years old Indian all-rounder is a destructive cricketer. On his day he can take the game away from the opposition in a span of a couple of overs. He has helped India reach massive totals in the past with his sheer power-hitting skills at the death.
He doesn’t show any sympathy towards the bowler when he gets going. In India’s T20I success against Australia, Pandya played a major role. He constructed quickfire runs at the death and took India over the line.
Although his recent records are unmatchable to his calibre, still he is one of the destructive batters. He will certainly be in India’s plans for the ICC T20 World Cup 2021.
Ravindra Jadeja:
The left-arm all-rounder is another name that will definitely make it to the playing 11. Jadeja is in some different form lately. In the recent IPL 2021, he blew away the opposition with his fierce batting.
He plundered 37 runs in the 20th over of Harshal Patel in Vivo IPL 2021 against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) which is the joint highest in the history of IPL. Moreover, he scored 131 runs in six innings at an average of 131. He also scalped 6 wickets in seven games for CSK.
His sharpened skills with both willow and ball on hand makes him a lethal weapon for India.
Yuzvendra Chahal:
India will surely take the services of Yuzvendra Chahal in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup. He might be the lone leg-spinner for India playing the marquee ICC event.
Although, Chahal has been on and off for quite some time now. He didn’t have the best of his IPL season in 2021. He only managed to pick four wickets in seven games for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the now-suspended IPL 2021.
However his IPL 2020 stats were encouraging. Chahal scalped 21 wickets in 15 games in IPL 2020 and was fifth highest wicket taker in the season.

Shardul Thakur:
The IPL 2021 was definitely not fruitful for India’s bowling all-rounder. Shardul Thakur had a torrid outing in the first half of the IPL 2021. He was taken all over the park by the batters due to his inconsistent line and length.
However, his last T20I series against England was one of his best performances. He came out to be a stand-out performer for India against England. His variation troubled the batters and in return got the wickets.
His skills also fulfill India’s plans of making a playing11 with batting depth till 9th position.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar:
India’s ace pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar might also make it to the final playing11 for the ICC T20 World Cup 2021. Bhuvneshwar Kumar was sensational in his comeback series against England.
In five games, he scalped four wickets with an impressive economy of 6.39. In the subsequent ODI series against England, he scalped six wickets in three games.
He has also worked on his line and length during his rehab days. He came out with a better version of himself this year in March.
Jasprit Bumrah:
Probably the first name that comes to our mind when talking about the pace attack.
Jasprit Bumrah will spearhead India’s bowling attack. His last T20I series goes back in January 2020 against England where he picked six wickets in five games. In the IPL 2021, Bumrah didn’t have the best of his time but he still was an economical bowler. He scalped six wickets in seven games for MI in IPL 2021.
