IPL 2022 Dates – Start and End:
The Indian Premier League (IPL) chairman, Brijesh Patel on 24th February revealed that the upcoming edition of the IPL will start on 26th March (Saturday) while the final will be held on 29th May (Sunday).

IPL 2022 Teams:
A total of 10 teams will compete in the upcoming IPL 2022. Lucknow SuperGiants and Gujarat Titans were the two new teams that got added, last year.

IPL 2022 Matches Details:
With the addition of the two new IPL teams, the total number of matches has been increased to 74. Each team will play 14 matches in the league stages. This time, there will be no home or away games, as the entire tournament is being hosted in Maharashtra.
IPL 2022 Venues and Stadiums:
It has been confirmed that the entire IPL 2022 will be held in Maharashtra. The BCCI has decided to use the Wankhede Stadium, DY Patil Stadium, Brabourne Stadium and MCA International Stadium Pune to host the league stage of the IPL 2022.
Wankhede Stadium and DY Patil Stadium will host 20 games apiece while Brabourne Stadium and MCA International Stadium will stage 15 matches each.

The four playoff matches are likely to be scheduled in the biggest cricket ground, Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. However, the BCCI hasn’t confirmed any details on that front.
IPL 2022 Groups:
In the recent announcement, the BCCI divided all the ten IPL teams into two groups of five teams each. Group A and Group B have been put in place to divide ten teams.
The likes of Mumbai Indians, Lucknow SuperGiants, Delhi Capitals, Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders are placed in the first group while Chennai Super Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Punjab Kings and Gujarat Titans form Group B.

IPL 2022 Format and Matches Explained:
As per the new format, each team will play twice with the teams of its group and twice with the team in the same row. While once with the other four teams left in another group.
Let’s understand this with the example of MI. Mumbai will play two matches each with KKR, RR, DC and LSG. Also, MI will play two matches with CSK, which is in the same row as Mumbai. This is how 10 matches will be completed of a team.
Mumbai will then play its next four matches with the remaining teams of Group B i.e., RCB, SRH, PBKS and GT. In this way, Mumbai will complete its 14 league stage games.
