The newest entrant to the list of IPL teams, the Lucknow Super Giants will take the field on the 29th of March. The team was bought by the RPSG Group for 7090 Crores. Their owner happens to be Sanjeev Goenka who is the CEO of the RPSG group. Goenka was previously the owner of Rising Pune Supergiants. The team is going to be led by the nation’s heartthrob KL Rahul. Here is a look at how the team shapes up for IPL 2022:

Playing XI for LSG:
KL Rahul (C), Quinton De Kock, Manish Pandey, Deepak Hooda, Krunal Pandya, Marcus Stoinis, Jason Holder, Ravi Bishnoi, Avesh Khan, Mark Wood/Dushmantha Chameera, Ankit Rajpoot.
Strengths of the LSG Team for IPL 2022:
Their opening combination is one of the most dynamic in the tournament. The only better combination is that of Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma. The other strength is the presence of multi-faceted players. Krunal Pandya, Marcus Stoinis, Jason Holder, Deepak Hooda, and Kyle Mayers are all all-rounders. These are players who can flip the game in a matter of a few overs. The team is one of the most balanced teams after the IPL 2022 Mega Auction.
Weakness of the LSG team:
They do not have any evident weakness. But their backup for Avesh Khan is Ankit Rajpoot. Rajpoot can leak runs at times. Also, they have a small team size. In today’s world with the virus, an integral part of a few extra players can be pivotal. You certainly don’t want a day where you wouldn’t be able to field a squad. (God forbid)
Opportunities for Lucknow Super Giants for IPL 2022:
The opportunity is for LSG as a whole to leave a mark on the biggest festival of cricket. The team will be playing its first season. The next big opportunity is for spin-wizard Ravi Bishnoi. With a good performance in the IPL, he can make sure to book a flight ticket to Australia. Manish Pandey will be batting number 3 and can stitch a comeback story to the national team.
Threats to the LSG team:
The threats are over-dependence on all-rounders and the availability of players. The team has many all-rounders and will be expecting them to fire with both the skills. The other threat is the availability of foreign nationals. Mark Wood is an asset but the ECB will be looking to keep him fit. Quinton De Kock will only be available after the first two games.
X-Factor Players:
The X-Factor Players are KL Rahul and Deepak Hooda. Deepak Hooda and his career are on a rise. The last season saw him score a brutal 52 off 17 balls. The Rajasthani boy is here to make a mark. KL Rahul needs no explanation.
