The Mumbai Indians the most successful team in the IPL will be looking to get their campaign back on track after a miserable IPL 2021. The team couldn’t manage to get into their groove on the slow pitches of Chennai. The Mumbai squad now plays all of its games in Maharashtra in IPL 2022 and most pitches are the ones that they will like. The team has superstars like Ishan Kishan, Kieron Pollard, and Rohit Sharma himself. The bowling department depends on Jasprit. Here is an in-depth look:

Expected Playing XI:
Rohit Sharma (C), Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav, Anmolpreet Singh, Kieron Pollard, Tim David, N Tilak Verma, Daniel Sams, Mayank Markande/Murugan Ashwin, Tymal Mills/Riley Meredith, Jasprit Bumrah.
Strengths:
The strength of the Mumbai Indians is the core group that they have retained. Of the 7 Indian players, 4 Indian players are regular features of the Indian white-ball circuit. Rohit, Surya, Ishan, and Jasprit Bumrah are the big names. Their opening pair is the most explosive one. The bowling attack is looking amazing. The fast bowlers are elite.
Weakness of MI in IPL 2022:
The weakness of the Mumbai Indians is the absence of an experienced Indian batter in the middle. They could have easily bid for Suresh Raina or Karun Nair. Even Mahipal Lomror could have solved this problem. But all things said, they also lack a foreign, middle-order batter. Rassie could have been a good pick.
Opportunity:
The opportunity is for Anmol Preet Singh and N Tilak Verma. Both these young batters are going to get multiple chances. Another chance is for Ishan Kishan. With Shikhar Dhawan and Devdutt Padikkal batting well, he will have to earn his place on the flight to Australia. Mayank Markande is back home and will feel comfortable playing under Rohit Sharma.
Threats for MI in IPL 2022:
The Pune pitch is not the ideal pitch for Mumbai batters. They like it when the ball comes on the bat. They like pace. The Pune pitch supports the spinners more and is a slow wicket. The matches on this pitch might be low-scoring. Pollard has been misfiring for some time. He will have to take responsibility in the middle-order.
