IPL 2022 Points Table, Orange Cap, Purple Cap – Updated on 21 April

IPL 2022 Points Table, Orange Cap, Purple Cap – Updated on 21 April: Match number 30 of the Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) season fifteen saw Rishabh Pant’s Delhi Capitals (DC) take on Mayank Agarwal’s Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. The fixture was earlier slated to be held in Pune, however, following a covid outbreak in the Delhi camp, it was later shifted to Brabourne.

After winning the flip of the coin, Delhi opted to field first and restricted Punjab Kings (PBKS) to a modest score of 115 runs. The potent bowling unit of the Delhi Capitals (DC) rattled through the entire Punjab Kings playing XI. The likes of Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, Lalit Yadav and Khaleel Ahmad scalped two wickets each while Mustafizur Rahman picked one for himself.

Notably, Punjab’s strategy of go-all-guns-blazing backfired as they lost wickets successively. Owing to a sensational bowling display by Delhi Capitals, Punjab Kings were restricted to the lowest total of the tournament, 115.

In pursuit of a meagre score, Delhi openers went bonkers and planned to wrap up the innings as soon as possible. The firing bats of Prithvi Shaw and David Warner amassed a total of 81 runs in the powerplay, which is also the highest powerplay score in the ongoing Tata IPL 2022.

Prithvi Shaw scored blitz 41 off 20 deliveries while David Warner remained unbeaten at 60 off 30. Sarfaraz Khan supported with his 13 balls 12 to help Delhi go over the line in just 10.3 overs.
