IPL 2022: Points Table, Orange Cap, Purple Cap: The formidable Rajasthan outfit has hammered Faf du Plessis-led Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by 29 runs in match number 39 of the Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 in the Maharashtra Cricket Association International Stadium, Pune.
Sanju Samson, the RR skipper, hasn’t been lucky enough as others are to win the flip of the coin. RR once again had to come to bat first, as RCB decided to bowl first. It won’t be wrong to say, Rajasthan seems to be the one team that is unaffected by the result of the toss. They are happy to bat first. In fact, all their six wins in the season have come after batting first.
Rajasthan couldn’t get off to a great start with both the openers losing their wickets pretty early in the innings. RCB showcased their fine pace bowling and picked timely wickets to push Rajasthan Royals backwards in the innings.
However, young Riyan Parag came to rescue his side and played an unbeaten knock of 56 runs in 31 deliveries. Owing to Parag’s innings, Rajasthan posted a total of 144 runs in the loss of eight wickets.
The below-par total looked meagre in front of the RCB batting unit which comprises Faf du Plessis, Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell and Dinesh Karthik. But, RR bowlers were reluctant to give away anything that easily.
The bowlers maintained the pressure on the opposition with their tight lines and picked wickets at regular intervals. Kuldeep Sen scalped four big wickets, while R Ashwin and Prasidh Krishna picked three and two respectively.
The brilliant bowling effort helped RR bowl out RCB at a score of 115 in 19.3 overs. Rajasthan Royals sealed the match by 29 runs and returned back to the helm of the points table.
