IPL 2022 Points Table, Orange Cap, Purple Cap – Updated on April 14

IPL 2022 Points Table, Orange Cap, Purple Cap – Updated on April 14: The most successful Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise, Mumbai Indians continued its slump form as they gets hammered by Mayank Agarwal spearheaded Punjab Kings (PBKS) by 12 runs in the last night’s IPL fixture at the MCA Pune. With the loss, Mumbai records its fifth consecutive defeat in the Tata IPL 2022.

The flip of the coin fell in Mumbai’s bag who opted to field first. Mayank Agarwal and Shikhar Dhawan provided a solid opening partnership for Punjab Kings as the duo scored 97 runs for the first wicket. Punjab batters carried things off in a similar fashion and kept the scoreboard ticking with their high-value shots.

Fantastic efforts from Mayank Agarwal, Shikhar Dhawan, Shahrukh Khan and Jitesh Sharma helped Punjab to put up a total of 198 runs in the loss of five wickets.

In pursuit of a good total, Mumbai Indians got off to a flier all thanks to Rohit Sharma and his astonishing hitting. However, things didn’t go well with Mumbai as the skipper was soon dismissed by Kagiso Rabada and once again Rohit fell after getting a good start. Ishan Kishan followed Rohit and was also sent back to the hut inside the powerplay.

However, young Dewald Bravis and Tilak Verma dragged MI back into the game owing to their sensational batting. The duo stitched a strong 80 runs partnership and kept Mumbai Indian’s hopes alive to win the game.

Dewald Bravis was dismissed one shy of his maiden half-century in the IPL while Tilak Verma played a 20-ball 36 runs knock before getting dismissed due to a huge mixup in the middle.

Suryakumar Yadav took Mumbai close to the total following the dismissals of Bravis and Verma. SKY managed to score 43 off 30 deliveries, but couldn’t take his side home as he was dismissed by Kagiso Rabada.

The timely fall of wickets hurt Mumbai’s expectation of winning the match and eventually lost the game by 12 runs.

There wasn’t a lot of disturbance in the Purple Cap race even though 14 wickets fell in the game between Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings, last night. Tweaker Rahul Chahar kept his eighth position with seven scalps in five IPL 2022 matches.

No bowler from the Mumbai lineup features in the top ten Purple cap list which clearly shows their bowling woes in the ongoing Tata IPL 2022.
