IPL 2022 Points Table, Orange Cap, Purple Cap: Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) upset Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the first match of the Sunday doubleheader while Gujarat Titans (GT) defeated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the second contest.
Kane Williamson’s Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) sealed its fourth consecutive win of the season as they defeated Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the DY Patil Stadium. A brilliant bowling performance from SRH restricted PBKS to mere 151 runs in 20 overs.
In pursuit of a modest total, SRH played sensible brand cricket and defeated Punjab Kings (PBKS) with seven balls to spare. SRH’s consistent performance with the bat in the last four IPL matches has pushed them to the top four of the points table in the Tata IPL 2022.
Meanwhile, in the second game, flamboyant Gujarat Titans (GT) rode on the back of David Miller’s unbeaten 94 to secure their fifth victory of the season defeating Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 3 wickets.
The game between GT and CSK saw the return of Ruturaj Gaikwad, who slammed a 48-ball 73. He along with Ambati Rayudu and skipper Ravindra Jadeja helped CSK put up a total of 169 runs against Gujarat Titans.
GT had the worst ever start to their innings against CSK. The top three batters were dismissed at the score of 16 runs and the entire run chase looked like a distant dream. However, consistent efforts by David Miller brought Gujarat closer to the target.
To make the equation simpler for well-set David Miller, stand-in skipper Rashid Khan opened his assault and plundered quickfire 40 runs from mere 21 deliveries. The finishing touch was given by David Miller, who scored a magnificent 51-ball 94 and helped his side clinch the fifth victory of the season.
