IPL 2022 Points Table, Orange Cap, Purple Cap – Updated on April 19: The last night’s match between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) was an absolute thriller to watch for the fans. The high ranking clash at the Brabourne Stadium had several moments of joy and excitement for the fans as Sanju Samson’s RR went on to defeat Shreyas Iyer’s KKR by seven runs in the final over.

It won’t be wrong to say that Rajasthan Royals is a side that remains unaffected by the result of the flip of a coin. RR have been asked to bat first in five of its six encounters in the ongoing Tata IPL 2022.

Jos Buttler took Rajasthan to a flying start while his partner Devdutt Padikkal played second fiddle. Buttler looked in solid touch and was perfectly given every opportunity to face maximum balls in the initial overs.

Both the openers amassed 97 runs before the first dismissal of Devdutt Padikkal, who went after scoring 18-ball 24.

Following Padikkal’s wicket, skipper Sanju Samson and Shimron Hetmyer played their little cameos to support Jos at the other end who was inching close to his second century of the season.

Samson scored 19-ball 38 while Hetmyer played a fine knock of 26 runs in 13 balls. Opener Jos Buttler completed his century and scored 103 off 61 balls with the help of five towering sixes and nine boundaries.

In 20 overs Rajasthan managed to put up a total of 217 runs against Kolkata Knight Riders.

In pursuit of a giant total, KKR had the worst ever start they could get. Sunil Narine, who came to open the innings for the first time in 2022, was run out in the very first delivery of the match and had to depart with a diamond duck.

Despite losing an early wicket, KKR continued its aggressive cricket with opener Aaron Finch and skipper Shreyas Iyer completing a 100 runs stand. Pacer Prasidh Krishna gave the second dismissal to RR as he picked up the wicket of Aaron Finch, who was looking dangerous after completing his half-century.

Finch’s wicket gave RR a chance to make a comeback in the game and the bowlers were all set to pounce and grab the opportunity. RR bowling unit began picking wickets which pushed KKR into the backfoot.

Besides Aaron Finch and Shreyas Iyer, no other batter could score good runs for the team which eventually resulted in the loss. Rajasthan defeated KKR by seven runs in the final over of the innings.
