IPL 2022 Points Table, Orange Cap, Purple Cap: Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings locked horns for match number 68 of the Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 in the Brabourne Stadium, last night. RR convincingly thrashed CSK by 5 wickets in an interesting chase and booked a playoff seat for themselves.
MS Dhoni won the flip of the coin and elected to set the total against RR. The yellow brigade dealt an early blow as opener Ruturaj Gaikwad fell cheaply to Trent Boult in the first over of the inning. However, all-rounder Moeen Ali played a counter-attacking knock and amassed 93 runs in 57 deliveries.
Despite getting a blazing start, CSK batters failed to utilise it throughout the game. After scoring 75 runs in the powerplay, CSK was reduced to just 150 runs in 20 overs as Rajasthan Royals made a commendable comeback following an early assault.
In response to a low total, Rajasthan Royals lost its vital cog, Jos Buttler in just the second over of the innings. However, youngster Yashasvi Jaiswal stepped up and played a 59 runs knock. To finish the game, Ravichandran Ashwin showcased his batting prowesses and amassed an unbeaten 40 runs to take RR over the line.

Sanju Samson-led Rajasthan Royals (RR) confirmed their top two finish following the victory over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Friday night. RR went past Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the points table owing to their superior net run rate.
On the other side, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) ended their disarrayed and flawed campaign of the Tata IPL 2022 on a low. With just four victories in 14 matches, CSK finished in the penultimate position.

IPL 2022 Orange Cap:
Despite scoring just two runs against Chennai Super Kings, RR batter Jos Buttler remains at the helm of the orange cap. Buttler’s disappointing outing in the second half of the IPL 2022 continued as he fell to Simarjeet Singh without scoring much.
The RR wicketkeeper has scored a total of 629 runs in 14 outings so far. The glovesman is still 92-runs ahead of the second-placed KL Rahul.
Meanwhile, no Chennai batter can be seen in the top ten Orange Cap rankings. Their top-ranked batter is Ruturaj Gaikwad with 368 runs who is placed 18th in the ranking.
IPL 2022 Purple Cap:
RR spinner Yuzvendra Chahal once again dominated the match with his spin and snatched back his purple cap from RCB spinner Wanindu Hasaranga. Chahal scalped two wickets against CSK which helped him gain two wickets lead over Hasaranga.
Yuzvendra Chahal has a total of 26 wickets in 14 matches while Wanindu Hasaranga is placed second with 24 wickets from 14 matches.
