IPL 2022 Points Table, Orange Cap, Purple Cap: KL Rahul -captained Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) continues to shine in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League as Shreyas Iyer-led Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have become their latest victim. Lucknow defeated Kolkata by a huge 75 runs margin in the 53rd match of the tournament.
After being forced to bat first at the MCA Pune, Lucknow Super Giants didn’t have an encouraging start as skipper KL Rahul registered a diamond duck in the very first over itself. However, the situation was brought to control by the other two batters.
Quinton de Kock and Deepak Hooda made most of the initial restriction and notched up 66 runs in the powerplay. De Kock scored 50 runs from 29 deliveries while Hooda amassed quickfire 41 from 29 balls. Lucknow somehow lost the track of its innings midway and seemed like they won’t be able to post a par total, however, the batters were too good against Kolkata’s bowling unit.
In the end, Lucknow Super Giants managed to score 176 runs in the loss of seven wickets in their 20 overs quota.
In pursuit of a 176 runs total, Kolkata’s disturbing nerve was pressed by the Lucknow bowlers as they picked up early wickets. The opening woes for the franchise continued after opener Baba Indrajith registered a duck.
Meanwhile, the other batters also couldn’t do any better to tackle the shining Lucknow bowling lineup. All-rounder Andre Russell showed some resistance along with Sunil Narine and played a knock of 45 (19) and 22 (12) runs respectively.
Following the wicket of these two cricketers, it became too easy for Lucknow to fetch a dominating victory. Lucknow wrapped up KKR’s inning in mere 101 runs and sealed the game by 75 runs.
