Here is an in-depth look at the battle of the Royals in the TATA IPL 2022. The RCB team won with 4 wickets in hand and 5 balls to spare. Dinesh Karthik showed a vintage DK in the game.

The battle of the “Royals” of the IPL was on display in IPL 2022 on Tuesday night. It was the Royal Challengers Bangalore that took on the Rajasthan Royals. The Royal Challengers Bangalore won by 4 wickets. The star of the night was Dinesh Karthik. The tournament has already got underway and more than 10 games have been completed. The teams are now settled and are keen to find the best combinations. Both the teams that played on Tuesday were rooting for a victory. RR wanted to reach the top of the table and RCB wanted to get their 2nd consecutive victory. Here is an in-depth look:

IPL 2022, RCB VS RR, Rajasthan Royals Batting Innings (1st Inning):

The toss was won by Faf Du Plessis the skipper of the men in red. And as expected the team chose to bowl first. It was again the dew factor that affected this decision. The initial few games of the tournament saw the teams bowling first win the game. But the trend has seen a change and the teams can successfully defend their scores.

Rajasthan came out to bat. The duo of Yashaswi and Butler took the field. Yashaswi Jaiswal and his string of poor scores continued as he got out to an unplayable in-swinger from David Willey. It was a perfect start for the RCB team. RR was at 6-1 when Devdutt Padikkal came out. Devdutt and Jos Butler focused on building a partnership. They took the team through the first 6 overs. After the powerplay, the scoreboard read 35-1.

DDP batted well till the 10th over. He was dismissed for a well-made 37 by Harshal Patel. Next into the bat was Sanju Samson. Samson was struggling to connect well. Before Samson could do much damage, he was dismissed by Hasaranga. This was the 4th time that Wanindu got his wicket in 4 innings! RR was very slow in its approach. They were down and out at 126 runs at the end of the 18th over. The last two overs saw Hetmyer and Jos Butler unleash their best and gather runs. Jos slammed 3 sixes in the last over.

Jos Butler didn’t score a single 4 in the entire innings. But he managed to hit six 6s throughout. It was the first time that a batter carried his bat and did not score a 4 in his entire innings.

Brief Scores:

  • Jos Butler: 70* runs of 47 balls.
  • Shimron Hetmyer: 42* of 31 balls.
  • Harshal Patel: 1/18.

IPL 2022, RCB VS RR, Royal Challengers’ Batting Innings (Run-Chase):

The run-chase was no-less than a heist. RCB had a good start with Du Plessis and Anuj Rawat attacking the opposition. Faf was playing his illustrious drives. His cover drives were sensational. Both the openers ensured that they get through the powerplay. At the end of the mandatory 6 overs, the scoreboard said 55-0.

As soon as Faf Du Plessis handed out a catch to Trent Boult from the bowling of Yuzi Chahal, the innings looked like it was collapsing. Anuj Rawat nicked a ball to the keeper Sanju Samson off the ball of Navdeep Saini. The next to depart was Virat Kohli. Kohli was run-out! Now that is something that you rarely see! David Willey was also out to a peach of a delivery from Yuzi Chahal. But next in to walk was Dinesh Karthik and his experience of a lifetime.

Dinesh stood alongside Shahbaz Ahmed. This duo of youth and experience took on the Rajasthan bowlers. After playing a few deliveries to get his eyes set, Dinesh unleashed the attack. Karthik also hit Ravi Ashwin for 2 consecutive 6s. The game went down to the wire. When the duo started batting RCB required 79 runs off 45 balls and when Shahbaz fell to Trent Boult, the equation was reduced to 12 of 9 balls. Shahbaz hit Trent Boult for two 4s and one 6! Now, this sums up the entire concept of the IPL, which is to promote local talent against international players!

Dinesh Karthik finished the game with his marvelous strikes to Prasidh Krishna in the penultimate over.

Brief Scores:

  • Shahbaz Ahmed: 45 runs of 26 balls.
  • Dinesh Karthik: 44 runs of 23 balls.
  • Yuzvendra Chahal: 2/15.
