IPL 2022: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah has announced that the upcoming IPL 2022 will be scheduled in India and the tournament will get exciting and enthralling with two new franchises getting added to the existing pool of eight teams.
Two new teams in Ahmedabad owned by CVC Capitals for INR 5166 crore and RPSG Group-owned Lucknow (INR 7,100 crore) have been added to the Indian Premier League. Both the new inductees will become functional from the coming season.
“We have a mega auction coming up to see what the new combination looks like,” Shah was quoted as saying by ANI on Saturday.
Shah during the felicitation ceremony of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) winning the fourteenth season of the IPL talked about the key pillars of CSK’s success over the years and through tough and purple patches.
He accredited most of the CSK’s success to N Srinivasan and Kasi Viswanathan who have stood by the team in all situations.

“A lot of credit for CSK`s success over the years has to go to N Srinivasan as he has stood by his team in the difficult times. I must add that Kasi Viswanathan is like a glue that binds the team together. Season by season he has navigated the team,” Shah said.
He further asserted that MS Dhoni, the former skipper of team India, is the most successful captain India has ever produced. MS won three major ICC titles during his time and has also won IPL titles four times.
“How can one take CSK lightly when you have a captain like MS Dhoni. Dhoni is the heartbeat and backbone of CSK. Mahi is the most successful captain India has ever produced. The bond he has made and the legacy he has created will stay for ages.”
To conclude, Shah announced that the next season of the IPL will be in India.
“I know you all are waiting to see CSK play in Chepauk, Well, that moment is not very far. The 15th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will take place in India.”
