Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are not having an ideal time in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. The Nitish Rana-led side has failed to get going in the tournament as they have batted and bowled poorly in the league. In the 6 games so far, they have suffered four losses and have managed just two wins. It’s fair to say that even in their two wins they didn’t perform exceptionally well. Time is ticking away and therefore they need to rectify their mistakes and head back to winning ways.
IPL 2023: 2 changes KKR should do to return to winning ways in the game against CSK
Kolkata Knight Riders are now slated to lock horns with Chennai Super Kings in their next game on Sunday (23rd April) at the Eden Gardens. Ahead of their next game, they need to rejuvenate themselves and in this piece, we will take a look at 2 changes KKR should do to return to winning ways in the game against CSK
1. Shardul Thakur in place of Umesh Yadav
It’s fair to say that Kolkata Knight Riders have under-utilised Shardul Thakur as a bowler in the team. The pacer hasn’t bowled to his full extent and was dropped from the last game. The move backfired as they struggled with both bat and ball. In their next game against CSK, they can look to bring Thakur back into the team in place of Umesh Yadav. The pacer has looked horrible in the league and is failing to provide his team with breakthroughs with the new ball. Therefore Thakur replacing Umesh could be a good move for the team as it can also strengthen their batting as well.

2. Aarya Desai in place of Mandeep Singh
Another change that Kolkata Knight Riders might look to do in their next game is they can bring young Aarya Desai in place of Mandeep Singh. KKR’s middle order has been a complete failure this season. No batter has stepped up and taken responsibility. Coming to Mandeep Singh, he has failed drastically in all the games and it’s fair to say that time might have run out of them. The team can look to play young Gujarat batter Aarya Desai in his place and can test him in the game against CSK.
