The BCCI and the IPL Governing Council have finalized December 23 as the date for the IPL 2023 auction in Kochi. This year’s auction will be a mini auction instead of the mega auction a year ago. The 16th season of the Indian Premier League is now in full swing. The marquee event will give franchises a chance to strengthen their squads and develop into bigger versions of themselves.
Each franchise will get an additional Rs 5 crore to spend on top of the money left over from their last auction purse, plus the value of the players they released, taking the total purse to Rs 95 crore. Several top-tier cricketers will participate in the upcoming IPL 2023 auction. However, a select few among them have demonstrated their mettle in the T20 circuit and will prove to be of immense value to the team. These T20 talents are likely to catch the eye of several franchises, and they could even start a bidding war between the teams.
Let’s take a look at some players who might break the banks up!
5 Players Who Will Be In High Demand In The IPL 2023 Auction
1- Cameron Green
One of the most intriguing prospects in Australian cricket has been Cameron Green. The 23-year-old has recently flourished in the white-ball circuit. He has played in 12 ODIs and scored 270 runs at 92.15, while also taking 11 wickets for an economy of 4.98.
Green has been a phenomenon in the shortest format ever since he made his debut this year. In the shortest format, he scored 139 runs at an incredible strike rate of 173.75 while also taking five wickets for Australia. When he opened for Australia against India, he established himself in the shortest format by smashing 61 off 30 balls in Mohali and 52 of 21balls in Hyderabad to catch the attention of fans and IPL franchises.
Hence, he is an asset for any side, and several IPL teams may bid for the Australian all-rounder in the upcoming auction of IPL 2023.

2- Ben Stokes
One of the top all-rounders in cricket right now is Ben Stokes. The 31-year-old has won matches for England in a variety of disciplines, with both the bat and the ball. In terms of T20Is, he has taken 26 wickets for an economy of 8.40 and scored 585 runs at a strike rate of 130.63. This includes his 52-run’ World Cup-winning innings in the T20 World Cup 2022.
While there were some concerns about his performance in T20 cricket prior to the T20 World Cup, Stokes delivered when it mattered most, first in a crucial league match against Sri Lanka and then in the championship match against Pakistan, once again displaying his big-match credentials. In the tournament, Stokes also took 6 wickets in 16 overs.
It is important to remember that Stokes won Player of the Tournament honors during his first season of the IPL in 2017.
3- Sam Curran
Sam Curran has a track record of success in the game’s quickest version. The 24-year-old has played in 144 T20 matches and has 146 wickets to his name with an 8.48 economy rate. With the bat, he has 1731 runs scored at a 135.65 strike rate.
Since Curran was the Man of the Tournament of the T20 World Cup 2022 for picking 13 wickets, 9 of which came in the death overs, and was the Man of the Match in the final for picking 3/12 against Pakistan, expect franchises to engage in a strong bidding war for his services.
Former CSK and PBKS player has taken 32 wickets in 32 IPL matches, including a hat-trick, and scored 337 runs at an average of 22 and a strike rate of 150. We are expecting 24-year-old Sam Curran to fetch at least 12-13 crores in the IPL 2023 mini-auction.

4- Rilee Rossouw
There is unlikely to be a batsman with more T20 experience than Riley Rossouw, who has scored 269 T20 matches, 42 fifty-plus scores, 5 centuries, and 6874 runs at a strike rate of 143.
Recently, the South African left-handed batsman scored centuries against Bangladesh in Sydney and India in Indore. It is expected that Riley Rossouw will bring in a substantial amount in the IPL 2023 auction, given his reputation for playing aggressive cricket right from the start of his innings.
5- Joshua Little
Joshua Little, an Irish seamer, has played in 83 T20s and 53 T20Is over the course of his career, but it was during the T20 World Cup 2022 that he really made his presence known.
The 22-year-old left-arm seamer, who was instrumental in Ireland’s victory, picked up 11 wickets in 7 matches at an economy rate of 7, including Jos Buttler. He also claimed a hat trick against New Zealand. A left-arm seamer with the ability to swing the ball far and his reasonable speed should draw a lot of interest at the IPL 2023 auction table.
