IPL 2023 Auction: 2 Players CSK may target in IPL 2023 Auction: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) had a troublesome campaign in the last held season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The yellow franchise finished their Tata IPL 2022 run in the penultimate position. This was the only second time when CSK failed to reach the playoff of the illustrious Indian T20 League.

The franchise went through multiple phases in just one single season of the league. There were some highs, but the lows were dominant enough to overpower the highs throughout the tournament. Meanwhile, everyone saw that silver lining in CSK’s performance towards the fag end of IPL 2022.

Ahead of the next season, Chennai has successfully retained its core set of players. The yellow brigade went on to retain 18 players from its previous squad and subsequently released seven players including the likes of Dwayne Bravo.

Following the retention process, CSK has seven player slots remaining in its squad which include two places for foreign players. A total of INR 20.45 Crore purse value is left with the franchise to make purchases of players in the upcoming IPL 2023 Auction, which is slated to be held on 23rd December in Kochin.

In this article we will take a look at players who can be targetted by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the IPL 2023 Auction: 2 Players CSK may target in IPL 2023 Auction.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) might try their luck with Australian young pacer Riley Meredith in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The pacer was associated with Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Tata IPL 2022, the season which saw a decline in the performance of perennial IPL champions. The speedster scalped eight wickets in the season for MI at an expensive economy of 8.43 in IPL 2022.

Interestingly, he caught the attention of IPL teams back in 2021 when he became one of the most expensive uncapped players in the history of the Indian Premier League. The Aussie bagged a lucrative deal of INR 8 Crores in IPL 2021 auction from Punjab Kings (PBKS).

However, he couldn’t justify his price tag as he featured in just 5 matches in his debut IPL season. The pacer scalped four wickets and his economy remained a bit on the higher side (9.00).

Interestingly, CSK has released Adam Milne from its squad and thus needs a bowler who can consistently deliver with a searing pace. Currently, Riley Meredith looks like the only viable option who can don Milne’s shoes in CSK for IPL 2023. He can consistently clock 150 KPH and can pose a genuine threat under MS Dhoni’s guidance.

England all-rounder Sam Curran was part of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) squad in the IPL 2021, but he decided to pull out of the tournament in 2022 owing to his injury issues. Curran opted to nurse his lower-back injury during the IPL window and thus he didn’t register for the IPL 2022 mega auction.

However, he will be back in the auction on 23rd December in Kochin. Reports have confirmed that Sam Curran has registered for the IPL 2023 auction and will be one of the most sought players in the event.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) is likely to go head-on for Sam Curran’s services in the IPL 2023. He was a big part of the CSK franchise in the earlier seasons, and the franchise would love to have him back in the yellow colours.

Moreover, his recent success in the T20 World Cup 2022 has tempted a lot of franchises to have a go at him in the upcoming auction. Curran won the ‘Player of the Tournament’ award in the recently held T20 World Cup for his sublime performance. He scalped 13 wickets in the showpiece event.
