IPL 2023 Auction Date, 10 IPL Teams, Players, Teams, Squad – All you need to know: The Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 is about to conclude and the excitement for the next edition of the tournament has begun to flow among the fans and supporters. Season fifteen of the IPL saw two new teams joining the existing pool of eight teams, making it a ten teams affair.

Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants announced their arrival in the IPL 2022 and both the teams have performed brilliantly throughout the tournament.

IPL 2022 also saw a decline in the performance of the two of the biggest IPL teams – Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings. The slump form of both aforementioned sides resulted in a slight downturn in the viewership of the tournament. However, both the franchises will make a comeback in the next season with much better strategies and squads.

The Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) season sixteen will be big in many aspects. First, it will be the comeback season for both Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings following a straightforward disappointing season. Also, the BCCI would look to correct the cause of the dip in the viewership and fans may expect some changes or perhaps a few additions in the next season.

This very article will take you through the Tata IPL 2023 Auction Date, 10 IPL Teams Details, Players, Teams, Squad – All you need to know.

IPL 2023 Auction Date:

Just like any other IPL season, the player auction for the forthcoming edition of the league will be held somewhere around late January 2023 or early February 2023. The IPL 2023 auction will be a single day event unlike the IPL 2022 mega auction, which was held in two days (February 12, 13).

Tentative Date – February 12, 2023 (Sunday)

Though earlier there were rumours that the BCCI would scrap the auction system after the IPL 2022 as the trend has clearly gone past its sell-by date, however, no such concrete reports have emerged as of now.

Several franchise owners were happy calling for the removal of the auction system and letting teams create their own ecosystem to recruit the players.

If we go by history, most of the auctions have been held in Bangalore. We can expect the same venue for the Tata IPL 2023 auctions. Hotel ITC Gardenia in Bengaluru hosted the IPL 2022 mega auction.

IPL 2023 Player Retention:

Franchises can retain any number of players they want as this is not going to be a mega auction. The key difference between a mega auction and a normal/mini-auction is that in a mega auction franchises can only retain a specific number of players (maximum 4 in IPL 2022 mega auction), however, in normal/mini auctions teams can choose any number of player retention as per their requirement.

IPL 2023 Auction Purse Value:

The purse value is set to be increased by the Board of Control for Cricket in India. Every year, the purse gets an elevation of INR 5 Crores. In IPL 2022 mega auctions the purse value was capped at INR 90 Crores and franchises will have a value of INR 95 Crores in the IPL 2023 auctions.
