IPL 2023 Auction: Rajasthan Royals (RR) Release, Retains and Probable Players List, Squad all you know: Rajasthan Royals (RR) have had one of their most memorable seasons in the Indian Premier League 2022. Although not many gave Rajasthan a chance in their top four, the franchise did put up a commendable show to compete against Gujarat Titans in the final.

The inaugural champions of the Indian Premier League (IPL) are always credited a lot less than they actually deserve and are also termed as the underdogs, however, the franchise, in the recently concluded IPL 2022, gave a befitting reply to all the critics who rule them out of the tournament even before the competition starts.

The stretch of good things began for Rajasthan Royals right from the auction table where the franchise shelled out their 90-95 per cent purse value on getting their playingXI for the tournament. RR managed to sign some of the finest cricketers from all around the world after retaining the likes of Sanju Samson, Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal before the auction.

The pink army was successful in bidding for Yuzvendra Chahal, Shimron Hetmyer, Trent Boult, Daryl Mitchell, Rassie van der Dussen and Devdutt Padikkal.

The key architect of Rajasthan’s memorable run in the IPL 2022 was Jos Buttler who had all the answers to the opposition bowling unit. The English batter tormented all the bowlers with ease and plundered a massive 863 runs including three centuries against Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Capitals.

Though a large due should be received by Jos Buttler, the other batters also made significant contributions from the other end to complement the English batter. The likes of Sanju Samson, Devdutt Padikkal and Shimron Hetmyer were fantastic with their batting.

Rajasthan Royals (RR) had a fresh bowling unit with Trent Boult spearheading the quicks while Yuzvendra Chahal led the spinners. The newly-stitched bowling lineup had a good mix of experience and young players.

Seasoned spinner Yuzvendra Chahal was a pivotal part of the RR unit in the IPL 2022. Chahal emerged as the Purple Cap winner in the tournament as he finished with 27 wickets. Moreover, his spin partner R Ashwin was also in good form as he scalped 12 wickets.

As mentioned earlier, the Royals had a tremendous season in the IPL 2022 – their bowling was exceptional, batting as always never looked shaky and the franchise made a brilliant usage of their resources throughout the season.

However, the franchise will have a few issues to fix in the next season of the tournament. Buttler and Samson were the two most consistent batters and the bulk of runs were scored by them only. The other batters need to be a little more consistent, especially Riyan Parag, who has been under public scrutiny following a flop season with the bat.

RR will be mindful of its flaws and will look to fix that as soon as possible. But, ahead of that, the franchise will go through the auction process. While most of the players will be retained, a few names will be released.
