The IPL 2023 Auction is going to be underway in December or January. The franchises are expected to announce their retentions and releases in the next few weeks. There are many teams that have found the balance and will not be intending to release many players. The Gujarat Titans are one such team. They have a balanced squad, but will be expecting new faces to join them too. So, who are the top 3 players that they might release before the IPL 2023 auction? Here is a look:
Gujarat Titans Might Release Matthew Wade Before IPL 2023 Auction:
Matthew Wade is aging like fine wine. His age is not the question. The concern is the mindset and the concept of the IPL. It happens to be “a platform for young and talented players”. Keeping that in mind, there is a chance that the Gujarat Titans may release Matthew Wade. Wade was bought for 2.4 Crores in the IPL Mega Auction 2022. Wade is playing exceptionally well as a finisher for Australia but there are fresher faces on the market. Glenn Phillips can be one option for the Titans.
Vijay Shankar:
Vijay Shankar quickly slid down the cards. Vijay who was once a national team prospect and India’s top option to bat at number 4 is now out of contention. He was given multiple opportunities to bat at number 3, one of the best positions in T20 cricket, but he failed. He was cited to be Hardik Pandya’s replacement but as the cricket community knows, there is only “One Hardik Pandya”. He can be replaced by any other fast-bowling all-rounder. The Gujarat Titans can go for Cameron Green too.
Rahul Tewatia Might be Released by the Gujarat Titans Before IPL 2023 Auction:
Rahul Tewatia for 9 Crores is a very big investment. Rahul is a good player. He is one of India’s top spin-bowling all-rounders. But is he worth 9 Crores, is the question! If the Titans want to liquidate some money and want to reassure Tewatia’s price in the market, they can ask him to part ways and then again go for him in the IPL 2023 Auction. Tewatia was one of their top match-winners last season and hence it is assumed that Tewatia will play for the Titans next season but it is always great to get players at their actual market value, isn’t it?
