IPL 2023: The season of nail-bitters, thrillers, super overs and endless entertainment is here. The 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is just a few sleeps away from now. The marquee tournament will kick start with a blockbuster clash between Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings at the Narendra Modi International Stadium on Friday (31st March). The season no doubt will be enthralling to watch as many big names and some exciting young talent will be on the show. The tournament will be played for two months with the final set to take place on 28th May. All the teams have begun their preparations and are putting in hard yards for what promises to be an exciting season ahead.
IPL 2023: Shreyas Iyer reportedly gets ruled out of the tournament
IPL 2023: The league is yet to start and it has already turned out to be a horrendous one for the two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). The men in purple reportedly have suffered a massive blow as their skipper Shreyas Iyer has been ruled out of the tournament as per the reports in Times of India (TOI).
Iyer complained of back pain during the recently concluded fourth Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against India in Ahmedabad. He immediately went for scans and was deemed unfit to take part in that game and was ruled out of the ODI series against Australia as well.
It was expected that Iyer would return for the league as many reports suggested that he has been advised a few days rest. But the recent reports have shattered the hopes of not only the KKR fans but also the Indians fans. The reports which emerged have suggested that he will miss cricket for 3-6 months and will also miss the World Test Championship Final.
It will come as a massive blow for the KKR as not only they will lose a skipper but a quality Indian batter as well. He was the leading run-getter for the team last year and batted exceptionally well for the team. Although there’s no official confirmation, but clouds are hovering over his participation in the league.
