The Chennai Super Kings came into the IPL 2022 after having won the previous edition handsomely lifting their 4th title in the history of IPL. The hopes and expectations from the franchise were thus pretty much high from every cricket fan all around the globe. The squad definitely looked the strongest among all other teams in the tournament.
To beat Chennai in a cricket match seemed impossible for any side in the 2021 season of the IPL. To everyone’s surprise, the defending champions had an extremely poor season managing just 4 wins out of the 14 games and crashing out in the group stages itself. Much to everyone’s surprise majority of the key players who had led the team to glory back in 2021 failed to deliver miserably as the team ended up in total shambles.
Be it bowling batting or even fielding, the team never managed to stay settled in any department of the game. All these factors were enough to demolish the motive of the side to successfully defend the title as the yellow army finished 9th in the points table by the end of the group stages.
Chennai Super Kings Prediction for IPL 2023
Despite having an extremely poor season in 2022, a team of Chennai Super Kings’ calibre is very much likely to fill up the gaps and initiate a turnaround in the upcoming season. The team will need to rebuild its lost rhythm and vigour which helped it earlier achieve big results. The management will be needing to improve and learn from the mistakes that they made this season.
The first step for them will be to look for a solid top-order batsman who can consistently perform for the team throughout the season during the mini auction ahead of the IPL next year. All these plans if carried out properly shall help the team win the title once again for sure.
