IPL 2023: Chennai Super Kings(CSK) into the Finals after Defeating Gujarat in Qualifier 1 by 15 runs, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway scored 60 and 40 runs with a strike rate of 136.36 and 117.65, respectively. Deepak Chahar and Ravindra Jadeja got two wickets and gave 29 and 18 runs.
GT’s batters failed against the strong spin attack of CSK in MA Chidambaram Stadium. Shubman Gill tried to play another big inning but got out by scoring 42 runs only. Gujarat bowlers gave good performances as Mohit Sharma and Mohd. Shami got two wickets.
Gujarat’s Batting failure cost huge to them:
In the Second Inning, Gujarat had a slow start in the match as Chennai bowlers had good control in the Game, but Shubman Gill played a wonderful inning, whereas Other batters of Gujarat lost their wickets by playing the wrong shots.
In the 14th over, Shubman got out by playing a pull shot and scored 42 runs in 38 balls with four fours and one six. After his wicket, CSK dominated the Game but In the death overs, Rashid Khan and Vijay Shankar tried a lot to win this game and made partnership of 38 runs. Rashid played some good shots and scored 30 runs whereas Vijay has made 14 runs but fails to win this match and now, they will play Qualifier 2 on May 26th.
Deepak and Jadeja got two wickets:
Chennai Super Kings Bowlers had dominated the Game since starting of the inning as they took two wickets in the powerplay and also restricted GT batters from hitting boundaries and making partnerships.
Ravindra Jadeja and Mahesh Theekshana had built good pressure on GT batters and bowls stump to Stump and got wickets as well. Ravindra Jadeja and Deepak Chahar took two wickets, whereas Maheesh Theekshana has taken two wicket and Matheesha Pathirana took two wickets.
CSK had a good start but didn’t finish well:
In the First Inning, Chennai had a good start as Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway made 87 runs partnership at a huge stage. Ruturaj looked in good intent as he was targeting main bowlers, hitting shots in gaps, and knocked 60 runs in 44 balls.
Devon Conway seemed to be struggling against the spinners of Gujarat in this match and lost his wicket under pressure hence scored 40 runs in 34 balls with four fours only. After these two batters got out, There was no such good partnership between other players, but some Players played a small impactful inning, like Rayudu, and Dube, who made 17 runs each, and Jadeja knocked 22 runs in 16 balls.
Mohit And Shami have taken two wickets:
Gujarat bowlers gave slightly more runs in powerplay, but their spinners took control of the game as they bowled well in the middle overs as Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmed took one wicket and gave 37 and 29 runs in their four overs spell.
Mohit Sharma took some crucial wickets in this important match, and overall, he got two wickets, whereas Mohd. Shami also took two wickets and bowls at an economy rate of 7.00.
