IPL 2023: Mumbai Indians may get a big blow, Cameron Green may be out of IPL 2023

IPL 2023, Mumbai Indians: Just a few months from now, IPL 2023 is ready to catch everyone’s attention. On the 23rd of last month, a mini-auction was organized, and players from all over the world participated. Each squad lavishly spent on the players they desired in order to bring them into their fold. The team with more money purchased them from the players despite the fact that their price was very expensive due to their huge demand. This time, the mini-auction has destroyed the records from the previous few years. Regarding the players who have been purchased, certain updates have already begun to surface. The Mumbai Indians are one of the teams whose troubles may also rise in the meantime. The MI club, led by Rohit Sharma, has won the IPL championship five times so far, but the 2022 season wasn’t very successful for this group. Another issue now appears to be developing.

In the auction, the Mumbai Indians paid a substantial sum to acquire Cameron Green for the 2023 IPL. Due to the great demand for Cameron Green, other teams made bids on him; nevertheless, the Mumbai Indians ultimately won him over by making a 17.50 crore offer. The unfortunate news is that until April 13, Cameron Green will only be permitted to play as a batsman; he will not be able to bowl. However, Cameron Green is essentially an all-around player who also uses his bowling to win games. This was accomplished by Cricket Australia through workload management. In the meantime, a Times of India report claims that IPL CEO Hemang Amin notified all ten teams on the day of the auction that Cricket Australia had alerted Cameron Green of Border Gavaskar. If he participates in all four Test matches for the trophy, he won’t be able to bowl for almost four weeks after the final Test. On March 13, the final Test between Australia and India will take place. It should be understood that they won’t be allowed to bowl from March 13 to April 13 (four weeks is equal to one month). Cameron Green ended up being the second most expensive player in the 2023 auction. Green has been excluded from the Australia vs. South Africa Test as well, according to reports that Cricket Australia is slightly concerned about his finger injury.

Cameron Green may miss the opening few matches

It’s anticipated that the IPL will begin this year around the first week of April. The BCCI has not yet released the dates or the schedule, but based on the international cricket schedule, it is most likely that the IPL will begin on April 1 or 2. In such a scenario, the Mumbai Indians team would have played at least two or three games by April 13. Cameron Green will only be eligible to bat if he is in the starting XI during this time and will not be able to bowl. This might make Mumbai more challenging. Even if the Mumbai Indians already have fast bowlers in the form of Jason Behrendorff, Jofra Archer, and Jasprit Bumrah, taking such a costly player would not be appropriate. It will be interesting to observe how the Mumbai Indians team handles this situation.
