IPL 2023 Points Table, Orange Cap, Purple Cap: In the second game of the Saturday doubleheader, Punjab Kings (PBKS) defeated Delhi Capitals (DC) by 31 runs at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. The hammering loss resulted in the elimination of DC from the IPL 2023 playoffs.
It was one such rare contest between DC and PBKS where only a couple of batters were able to click from both sides and took the burden of their team throughout that contest. For PBKS, it was opener Prabhsimarn Singh, who scored a ton against DC, while the rest of the batters scored just 64 runs.
On the other side, besides skipper David Warner, no other batters looked comfortable and the DC scores tell the same story. Warner played a brilliant knock of 54 runs in just 27 deliveries. Meanwhile, the remaining batters were bamboozled by the PBKS spinners.
In pursuit of 167 runs total set by PBKS, DC could only plunder 136 runs in 20 overs. With the win, PBKS remains in the IPL 2023 playoff hunt, however, Delhi Capitals (DC) have become the first side in the season to get eliminated from the playoffs.
