In the Royal encounter between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rajasthan Royals, Faf du Plessis led RCB soundingly defeated RR by 112 runs. Batting first RCB put 171 runs on the board and bundled out RR in just 59 runs. This is the biggest loss for RR this season and has badly hurt their NRR. The evening match, Chennai Super Kings vs Kolkata Knight Riders, was a low-scoring match where Thala MSD, the skipper of CSK won the toss and elected to bat first. The start was super fast for CSK scoring 52 runs in the first powerplay. 4 quick wickets slowed down the run rate and CSK managed to score only 144 runs in the course of 20 overs.
KKR lost early 3 wickets during the chase and then a 100-up partnership between Lord Rinku Singh and skipper Nitish Rana helped KKR to overcome the target with 9 balls left.
