IPL 2023 Points Table, Orange Cap, Purple Cap: Faf du Plessis’ Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) came on top of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the low-scoring thriller at the Ekana Cricket Stadium on Monday. RCB won the contest by 18 runs after posting a 126-run total in 20 overs.
Lucknow’s Ekana Stadium has been adamant to produce slow wickets unlike most of the other venues used in the IPL 2023. The slowness doesn’t let batters free their arms and the games unfold are low scoring.
After opting to bat first, RCB managed to post 126 runs total against Lucknow. Midway through the innings, it didn’t look sufficient enough to threaten the opposition or challenge them, however, the nature of the surface had the trick. RCB skipper Faf du Plessis scored 44 runs while Virat Kohli contributed 31 runs.
In pursuit of a low-scoring total LSG required a typical KL Rahul innings, however, Rahul was already down with his hamstring injury. No LSG batter could settle down and tick the scoreboard with consistent singles and doubles. For LSG Krishnappa Gowtham remained the top scorer with a score of 23 in 13 balls.
Eventually, in 19.5 overs, LSG was bundled out at a score of 108 runs and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) won the game by 18 runs. With the win, RCB moved up in the IPL 2023 Points Table.
