IPL 2023 Points Table, Orange Cap, Purple Cap: The double-header Saturday on 8th April had two contests lined up, one of which was between RR and DC, while MI took on CSK in the second fixture of the day. In the first game, Rajasthan Royals defeated Delhi Capitals by 57 runs while in the second game, CSK got better off Mumbai Indians by seven wickets.

In the first game of the afternoon, RR got off to a fine start all thanks to the openers Yashashvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler, who scored 60 and 79 runs respectively. Shimron Hetmyer gave the finishing touch to the innings to put up 199 runs total on board for DC.

Delhi Capitals once again failed to provide a decent start. Skipper David Warner scored runs, but that didn’t come off a respectable strike rate. The pressure kept building on with Warner not getting his shots spot on and the wickets kept tumbling. In 20 overs, DC could score 142 runs and lost the game by 57 runs.

In the second game, Mumbai Indians (MI) got off to a fiery start. The two openers seemed to be on a mission, but Rohit Sharma got dismissed at 21 runs score. MI batters started kneeling down against the spin attack of CSK and eventually could only manage to score 157 runs.

In response to a modest total at Wankhede Stadium, CSK saw a veteran of the game in Ajinkya Rahane redeeming himself with the fastest half-century of the Tata IPL 2023. Rahane scored 61 runs in 27 deliveries and made the equation simpler for CSK. In the end, the remaining work was done by Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ambati Rayudu, who took CSK home by seven wickets.
