IPL 2023: RR won this match by four wickets, and now they have 14 points but still need to qualify for the playoffs, as other teams also have chances to get into the playoffs. The Player of the Match award goes to Devdutt Padikkal, who knocked important 51 runs for his team, but Yashasvi and Hetmyer also played well and scored 50 and 46 runs, respectively.
Punjab Kings gave a good target to Rajasthan as Sam and Jitesh both made 49 and 44 runs for their team, but the failure of the Bowling department in the middle overs took the game away from Punjab Kings.
Rajasthan struggled but chased the target:
In the second, Jos Buttler got out for a duck, and this is the fifth duck in this season for him, but his partner Yashasvi Jaiswal played a good knock of 50 runs in 36 balls.
Devdutt Padikkal, who had a bad performance in this season so far but performed well in this match and scored 51 runs in 50 balls with three sixes. In the death overs, Shimron Hetmyer played a match finishing a knock of 46 runs in 28 balls with fours, and three sixes.
Punjab Bowlers had a good performance but lost the game:
Punjab King’s bowlers bowled well in this match after the failure of their bowling Department in the past few matches. Kagiso Rabada got two wickets, whereas Sam, Arshdeep, Nathan, and Rahul took one wicket. Rabada’s spell in Powerplay was terrific, as he had built so much pressure over the RR batters.
Punjab Scored a decent run on board:
In the First Inning, Punjab Kings top order failed as they made 50 runs in 6.3 overs with the loss of fours wickets. In the middle overs, Jitesh Sharma and Sam Curran made a vital partnership for the 5th wicket, and both made 64 runs, but Jitesh got out in the 14th over as he was trying to hit more balls and hence lost his wicket.
Shahrukh Khan and Sam Curran made a partnership a led their team to 187 runs in 20 overs. Sam Curran played a crucial inning for his team and scored 49 runs in 31 balls with two sixes, whereas Shahrukh played quite aggressive inning and made 41 runs in 23 balls.
Navdeep started and ended his season with three wickets:
In the starting overs, Rajasthan bowlers had good control over the game, but in the middle overs, they lost control as they were kept giving singles and doubles, hence failed to break the partnership. Navdeep Saini played his first match of IPL 2023 and took three wickets, whereas Trent Boult and Adam Zampa got one wicket each.
