RCB Retained & Released Player List [Updated], Royal Challengers Bangalore Squad for IPL 2024: After tasting decent success in the IPL 2022, the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) spearheaded by Faf du Plessis was expected to continue their sublime form in the IPL 2023 as well. However, things didn’t go as planned and the franchise got eliminated from the playoff race.

With just seven wins in 14 games played in the IPL 2023, RCB finished sixth in the points table. They had moments to qualify for the playoffs, but the team couldn’t cease those and were ultimately left out of the top 4.

Once again, over-dependence on the top order became an issue for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). The onus was largely on Faf du Plessis, Virat Kohli and Glenn Maxwell, who scored over 1700 runs collectively in the tournament. The middle order comprising, Dinesh Karthik, Mahipal Lomror and Anuj Rawat could collectively muster over 350 runs.

The death over bowling became another concern for the team as their bowlers recorded the worst economy rates in the death. The opposition in the death overs dominated the likes of Harshal Patel, and Mohd Siraj, even though they did decent enough in the early overs.

In the IPL 2024, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) shall look to counter the shortcomings they faced in the IPL 2023. They will have to release a few players from the middle order, who haven’t performed up to their potential, and bring in a couple of guys, during the IPL 2024 Auction, who can reduce the pressure on the top order.

Just like any other side, RCB would retain most of their players, who have done decent in the IPL 2023. Moreover, the young guns will be preserved and groomed for the future, if the franchise manages to see a future in them.

The likes of Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis, Glenn Maxwell and Mohammad Siraj would be the first couple of guys to be retained by the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). The aforementioned players will get the best of the prices among others.

RCB Released Players List [Updated] for IPL 2024

In a development that might shock a few, Harshal Patel is likely to be released by the RCB ahead of the IPL 2024 Auction. The pacer, who was touted to be at his best in the death overs, didn’t perform well enough in his area of expertise. He could only pick 14 wickets in 13 appearances at an economy rate of 9.65.

A major source of RCB’s success in the IPL 2022 was due to the presence of wicketkeeper batter Dinesh Karthik to finish things on a strong note. More often than not, Karthik provided a fiery end to the RCB’s innings which helped the franchise post a big total. However, this wasn’t the case in the IPL 2023, where Karthik failed to score runs.
