At the 2024 Indian Premier League auction in Dubai, CSK bid INR 30.40 crore to acquire match-winning players Shardul Thakur, Mustafizur Rahman, Rachin Ravindra, and Daryl Mitchell. They also brought in domestic names like Avanish Rao Aravelly and Sameer Rizvi at the business event. Rizvi, who has been playing for Uttar Pradesh on the domestic circuit since 2020, was selected for a whopping INR 8.40 crore.

Strengths of the Chennai Super Kings
The first and far-most differentiator of the CSK franchise from the others in the tournament is the presence of a genius mind behind the stumps. The Wicketkeeper skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni is known for molding the players to bring out the best of them and he has done this in the best way possible with exceptional results.
Other than that, CSK has a strong abundance of quality all-rounders. They have quality spin options from Ravindra Jadeja, Mitchell Santner to Maheesh Theekshana in their squad. They also own powerful smashers of the ball like Shivam Dube, and Daryl Mitchell who can also contribute with the ball.
They have covered the completed batting department quality options like Ruturaj Gaikwad, Anjinkya Rahane, newly added Sammer Rizwi, and more.
Weaknesses of The Chennai Super Kings
Though Chennai Super Kings have the likes of Deepak Chahar and Matheesha Pathirana, they still lack an experienced bowling spearhead. Tushar Deshpande, Mukesh Choudhary, and Rajvardhan Hangargekar are three other pacers that CSK have used with different combinations but it hasn’t worked all the time in the previous season.
