Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) pacer Harshit Rana has been fined 25% of his match fees for his aggressive send-off to the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) Mayank Agarwal. The IPL 2024 match between the teams took place at Eden Gardens on Saturday (23rd March).
Harshit Rana was the main reason why Kolkata Knight Riders emerged victorious in the game against the Sunrisers Hyderabad. The fast bowler produced a sensational last over and defended 13 runs to make sure that his team won the game.
The game saw the sensational competition between bat and ball and tempers flared up as well. Harshit Rana was the main reason behind that too. He hogged the headlines with his antics after he dismissed Mayank Agarwal in the match.
After Harshit Rana removed Mayank Agarwal, he gave a fiery look to the batter and gave him a ‘flying kiss’ send-off. That erupted the crowd. However, the pacer has now been fined for his antics by the Indian Premier League.
Harshit Rana committed two Level 1 offences under Article 2.5 of IPL’s Code of Conduct. He has been fined 10 per cent and 50 per cent of his match fees for his two offences. The charges were applied by the match referee, whose decision is final and binding in case of Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct.
Shreyas Iyer in awe of Harshit Rana
KKR skipper Shreyas Iyer was in awe of Harshit Rana’s last over in the match against SRH. He said that although the pacer was nervous he had full belief in his pacer. Speaking at the post-match presentation, he stated:
“To be honest, in the last over I thought anything could happen. They needed 13 runs and we probably didn’t have the most experienced bowler bowling at that particular time. This is the time when he could become a hero. That’s what I told him. ‘Back yourself. No matter what happens in this situation, we’re going to back you.'”
KKR will be next seen in action then they will take on RCB.
