IPL 2024, LSG vs PBKS:  Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) defeated Punjab Kings (PBKS) by 21 runs at Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow in the match no.11 of TATA IPL 2024. PBKS played quite well in this match but they failed to finish the match and therefore, they lost their second match of the tournament. The Player of the match was Mayank Yadav, who took three wickets and gave only 27 runs in his four overs spell.

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) played fantastic cricket in their 2nd match of TATA IPL 2024 however, the match was interesting between both the teams and it was almost neck-to neck for both the teams. LSG’s bowling was up to the mark in this match therefore they have easily won the match by 21 runs. 

Punjab Kings gave good competition to the Lucknow Super Giants but LSG gave a massive total of 200 runs on the slow wickets of Ekana Cricket Stadium. Skipper Shikhar Dhawan was leading his team from the front as he played an impressive knock of 70 runs but the middle-order batters failed to chase the target.

Lucknow Super Giants won the toss and batted first but they had quite a decent start as LSG was able to score 54 runs in the first six overs of the inning with the loss of two wickets, including the wicket of KL Rahul. However, Quinton de Kock played aggressively but it wasn’t enough to build pressure over Punjab Kings bowlers, therefore they took a couple of wickets in the powerplay.

Later on, Nicholas Pooran and Quinton de Kock made a small but impactful partnership of 47 runs for the fourth wicket, which led LSG to make a comeback in the game. Quinton de Kock scored 54 runs in 38 balls whereas Nicholas Pooran scored 42 runs in just 21 balls with three fours and three sixes in this match.

But, When both the batters got out, PBKS again dominated the game but Krunal Pandya played an impressive and aggressive inning of 43 runs in 22 balls with 4 fours and 2 sixes at a strike rate of 195.45. From the Punjab Kings bowling Department, Sam Curran took three wickets whereas Arshdeep Singh took two wickets.

While chasing the target, Punjab Kings started an aggressive start in the second inning as they scored 61 runs in the powerplay. Skipper Shikhar Shikhar Dhawan and Jonny Bairstow made a huge partnership of 102 runs for the first wicket. Shikhar Dhawan scored 70 runs in 50 balls with 7 fours and 3 sixes whereas Jonny Bairstow scored 42 runs in 29 balls with three sixes and three fours.

However, LSG bowlers dominated the game in the middle overs as they took a couple of wickets back-to-back at the start of the death overs. Liam Livingstone was able to score 28 runs whereas Sam Curran got out by scoring just 0 runs. From the LSG bowling department, Mayank Yadav took three wickets whereas Mohsin Khan took two wickets.
