IPL 2024: New Season, new Captain, and a new chapter but the defending champions have started the seventeenth edition of IPL with a win on the point. Ruturaj Gaikwad-led Chennai Super Kings defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore by 6 wickets in the inaugural match of the IPL 2024. A winning start for the reigning champions will boost the confidence of the newly appointed skipper who said during the toss “I want to try and be in my shoes, not fill anybody’s shoes.” Though he got regular assistance from the legend behind the wicket, he was excellent at making decisions.
Batting first, Faf played most of the balls in the first four overs and also made the most of it. RCB played the aggressor at the start but Mustafizur got two wickets in an over and Deepak Chahar got Maxwell on a golden duck. Mustafizur came again in his second spell and knocked out Green and Virat in an over.
RCB were 78 for five down in the 12th over, then Anuj Rawat and Dinesh Karthik started the counter-attack and smacked 95 runs in the remaining 50-odd balls leading RCB to a good total of 173 runs.
Chennai also got a good start at the top before Ruturaj got out at the team’s score of 38 runs. Rachin Ravindra got an excellent start to his IPL journey with a 37 off 15 with the help of 3 sixes and 3 fours. Daryl Mitchell and Ajinkya Rahane also went for an attack adding 22 and 27 for the team.

Most Runs: IPL 2024 – Player Rankings 1-10
Looking at the RCB side before the match, some would have thought the only loose knot in the RCB line-up is Anuj Rawat but he entirely turned the table upside-down. He became the player who scored the most runs in the match individually. He scored 48 runs off just 25 balls.
He is followed by his partner in that innings Dinesh Karthik who scored 38 runs (not out). Rachin Ravindra’s debut match in the IPL was exceptional as he played an innings with a strike rate of over 200 smoking 37 runs.

Most Wickets: IPL 2024 – Player Rankings 1-5
Mustafizur Rahman was all over the RCB the last night. Fizz got four wickets in his first game for CSK and all those four were crucial wickets in crucial time. Cameron Green also got two important wickets for RCB but couldn’t led his team to a win.
Deepak Chahar knocked out Maxwell without scoring and that set the match for CSK and he is third along with Yash Dayal, and Karn Sharma in the list with one wicket.
