IPL 2024 Points Table: Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have doubled down on the damage to the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024). After defeating them in Lucknow, the KL Rahul-led LSG moved to the south of India to trounce them again, this time at their own den – the Chepauk. LSG registered a fantastic six-wicket win over CSK and thus toppled them to sit at number 4 position in the IPL 2024 Points Table.
Fixture number 39 between CSK and LSG had memorable moments for both teams. While CSK saw a roaring ton from their skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad, batting first, the opposition stole the limelight with Marcus Stoinis manufacturing a match-winning and unbeaten century to take his side home in the second innings.
Stoinis played 124 runs innings in 63 deliveries which included 13 boundaries and six maximums. He stood as the lone warrior for his side, as his teammates looked a bit troubled to settle at the Chepauk.
The Aussie batter looked composed throughout his innings, and more so in the second half of his game, when he took his side close to the total of 210 runs. Despite losing wickets at the other end, Stoinis didn’t let the opposition take control of the situation easily.
The KL Rahul-led side required 47 runs off the final three with Stoinis and Deepak Hooda in the middle. The two batters scored 15 runs off the 18th over against experienced Mustafizur Rahman and followed it with another 15 run over against Matheesh Pathirana.
LSG needed 17 runs to win the game and Stoinis slammed a six and three fours in 4 successive deliveries to take his side home by six wickets.
Earlier in the game, CSK notched up the score of 210 runs in their quota of 20 overs. Skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad remained the key aggressor as he played a magnificent 108 runs knock in 60 deliveries.
To compliment Gaikwad, all-rounder Shivam Dube walked in and racked up 66 runs in just 27 deliveries. Dube’s fiery knock had seven big tonks and three fours.
To finish things up on a tidy note, MS Dhoni entered the bull ring to hit the final ball of the innings for a four, which took CSK’s overall total to 210 runs.
