IPL 2024 Points Table: Shubman Gill-led Gujarat Titans (GT) opened their account in the ongoing Tata IPL 2024 after they defeated Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Narendra Modi Stadium by six runs. GT subsequently bagged two match points and moved up in the Tata IPL 2024 points table.

A brilliant display of bowling by Mumbai Indians (MI) ensured that Gujarat Titans (GT) were restricted to a low score in Ahmedabad, batting first. GT saw handy contributions from most of their batters throughout the innings, but the most significant one came off the blade of Sai Sudharsan, who scored 45 runs in 39 deliveries.

The innings also saw Shubman Gill score 31 runs off 22 balls and Rahul Tewatia tonked 22 runs in 15 deliveries to take Gujarat’s overall total to 168 runs in 20 overs.

Ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah scalped three wickets by conceding a mere 14 runs in 4 overs, while Gerald Coetzee dismissed two batters in his four overs.

However, Rohit Sharma and Naman Dhir controlled the outing for a bit. Naman Dhir showcased his fearless batting display for a bit but was soon removed by Azmatullah Omarzai.

Rohit Sharma continued to take on the GT bowlers and this time he was joined by Dewald Bravis, who came in as an impact substitute. Both batters added 77 runs to the total before the partnership was broken. Rohit Sharma was dismissed 7 runs shy of his half-century, while Dewald Bravis departed four runs short of the target.

While the equation looked pretty simple for Mumbai as they required 48 runs off 36 deliveries with seven wickets in hand, but what unfolded was nothing less than a complete mess of a perfect chase. Mumbai lost six wickets in the last six overs and their batters played 11 dots only to eventually lose the game by 6 runs in the end.
