IPL 2025: Gujarat Titans rope in this Australian star as their assistant coach

Gujarat Titans have made a new addition to their coaching staff ahead of the IPL 2025. Former Australian and franchise player Matthew Wade has been roped in by the team as an assistant coach for the next season of the league.

Matthew Wade was part of the Gujarat Titans as a player for the last two seasons. The keeper-batter played a decent role for the team but didn't feature in the mega auction this time. It was expected that his time in the league would be over, but the franchise came up with a new role.

Matthew Wade now will be joining head coach Ashish Nehra, batting coach Parthiv Patel, and assistant coaches Aashish Kapoor and Narender Negi in GT’s coaching staff. He, along with the coaching staff, would want to help the team win their second edition in the league.

Matthew Wade didn't play many games in the IPL, but in the 12 games that he featured in, he played a decent role. The keeper-batter also was part of the title-winning run with the franchise and ended his career as an IPL winner, a feat that many greats don't have.

Welcome back to the GT Dugout, Matthew Wade - Gujarat Titans' official statement

Gujarat Titans confirmed the signing of Matthew Wade as their assistant coach through their social media. They called the former Australia player a Champion and fighter, welcoming him back to the dugout. The statement read:

“Champion. Fighter. Now our Assistant Coach! Welcome back to the GT Dugout, Matthew Wade!,"

Gujarat Titans didn't have the kind of season they would've wanted last year. Under the leadership of Shubman Gill, they finished in the bottom half of the table. However, with plenty of match winners this time around, they would be keen to win the title.

The IPL 2025 is all set to begin from 22nd March with defending champions KKR taking on RCB in the tournament opener. Gujarat Titans will open their campaign against Punjab Kings on 25th March at the Narendra Modi International Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad.
