IPL 2025: Lucknow Super Giants add two India pacers to squad for injured Mayank Yadav and Mohsin Khan
Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have suffered a massive blow ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. As per the reports, it is learned that two star pacers in Mohsin Khan and Mayank Yadav are likely to be ruled out of the upcoming edition.
The IPL 2025 is all set to begin from 22nd March and even before the the league has started, Lucknow Super Giants have dealt major blows. The franchise was mulling over the fitness of three pacers in Mohsin Khan, Avesh Khan and Mayank Yadav.
The reports claimed that Avesh Khan is all set to be fine and will join the team before IPL 2025. However, there are concerns over the fitness of Mayank Yadav and Mohsin Khan. The duo are yet to get the fitness clearance and this has put Lucknow Super Giants under massive pressure.
Mayank Yadav faced a back injury during the T20I series against Bangladesh in October and, since then, hasn't played a single game. On the other hand, Mohsin Khan has some unknown injury and was last seen in action during the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25 in December.
Lucknow Super Giants has called up Shardul Thakur and Shivam Mavi as cover for Mayank Yadav and Mohsin Khan in IPL 2025
The reports added that as a cover for Mayank Yadav and Mohsin Khan, Lucknow Super Giants has called up Shardul Thakur and Shivam Mavi. Although there is no official confirmation, the duo is likely to be added to the team for the IPL 2025.
Both Shardul Thakur and Shivam Mavi went unsold at the IPL 2025 auction. However, if added to the team, it will be a great opportunity for them to stake their claim back in the league with their performances.
Shardul Thakur has been a veteran in the IPL. He was part of the Chennai Super Kings squad last year. Overall in 92 innings, he has picked 94 wickets at an average of 30.52. With the bat, he has hammered 307 runs in 37 innings at a strike rate of 138.91.
Shivam Mavi, on the other hand, has played 32 games in the IPL and has taken 30 wickets at an average of over 31 and an economy of over 8.
