IPL 2025 MI vs KKR: 3 possible concerns for Mumbai Indians that they should fix in order to gain winning momentum
IPL 2025 MI vs KKR: Mumbai Indians will host the Kolkata Knight Riders on their home ground at the Wankhede Stadium. The MI team, traditionally, like on previous occasions, had a slow and unconvincing start to their IPL campaign.
Mumbai Indians did not start their campaign on a good note, as they called in a very low-scoring thriller at the iconic Chepauk Stadium against arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings. Despite Vignesh Puthur’s careful editing attempts, Mumbai could not manifest anything special.
The fixture between Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans at the high-scoring Narendra Modi Stadium also did not end in a very favorable situation, with MI losing the match by 36 runs despite the return of skipper Hardik Pandya.
3 Possible Concerns for Mumbai Indians to fix in IPL 2025 ahead of MI vs KKR:
1. Batting woes despite a strong lineup
Mumbai Indians possibly have the finest of Indian T20 players, with the former Indian skipper Rohit Sharma at the top. While the current Indian T20 skipper Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma are taking command of the Mumbai Indians middle order.
Hardik Pandya forms another strong part of the lineup, while Will Jacks was considered great with both bat and ball. However, all of these big names have faltered to perform convincingly enough to take MI over the line.
2. No one to fill in the heavy shoes of Jasprit Bumrah
Mumbai Indians considered picks like Deepak Chahar and Trent Boult in their pace unit while they were to aid the legendary paceman, Jasprit Bumrah. Bumrah, however, was ruled out of the first few matches as he is still undergoing rehab from his injury at the NCA.
In Bumrah’s absence, no one could mark the brilliance of the legendary bowler. Likely the MI unit looked feeble in his absence, and till his return, this would remain a major concern.
3. Fielding a major flop
What has been the highlight among the several woes in the MI camp is their poor fielding. Even in the previous match, Hardik Pandya, after having lost the game, clearly stated that it was around 25-30 runs that Mumbai Indians leaked on the field.
From dropping vital catches on the field to misfielding that often resulted in boundaries and also several overthrows, MI needs to buckle up their fielding to turn the form in their favour.
