IPL 2025: Not KL Rahul! Delhi Capitals name their vice-captain for IPL 18
South Africa batter Faf du Plessis has been appointed as the vice-captain of Delhi Capitals (DC) for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The league is all set to begin on Friday (22nd March), with RCB and KKR all set to clash in the tournament opener at Eden Gardens.
Delhi Capitals, since the last few days, have been in the news. The franchise has been making a lot of decisions, with a big one being the appointment of Axar Patel as the captain. The all-rounder beat KL Rahul to take over the role and it invited many mixed reactions.
With Axar Patel being appointed as the captain, it was expected that KL Rahul would be in the leadership group. However, that too wasn't the case either as Faf du Plessis was announced as the vice-captain of the team for the upcoming IPL 2025.
The franchise announced through their social media as they posted a video of Faf du Plessis, who himself confirmed that he has been appointed as the vice-captain of the Delhi Capitals, speaking about this time with the franchise.

Faf du Plessis will be one of the key factors for Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2025. The South African player has been a veteran in the league, and his leadership experience will be vital for Axar Patel as well as the duo will be managing the team and would be keen to take them to glory.
Faf du Plessis, since the last few years, was part of Royal Challengers Bengaluru. The batter led the team since 2022 and did a decent job as well, leading from the front. The premier batter would be keen to make contributions with the bat in the IPL 2025 and help the Delhi Capitals win their first-ever title in the league.
Faf du Plessis will be high on confidence entering into the IPL 2025. The batter was the leading run-getter for the Johannesburg Super Kings in the SA20 as he scored 286 runs in 10 innings. He also has made a great impact in the IPL, scoring 4571 runs at an average of over 36 to go with a strike rate of over 136.
