IPL 2025 Resumption: BCCI Plans to Host Remaining Matches in Bengaluru, Chennai & Hyderabad as Overseas Players Start Leaving

Huge news has gone viral recently, and the BCCI has taken a new action on 10 May 2025. The IPL 2025 resumption plan has been announced. BCCI is targeting Bengaluru, Chennai, and Hyderabad to host the 16 remaining matches after a one-week suspension due to India-Pakistan tension. Overseas players are leaving India, so the restart is getting complicated. In this article, we shared complete information about this plan, so let’s start the article.

Southern Cities to Host Remaining Matches

The IPL 2025 resumption hinges on three southern cities - Bengaluru, Chennai, and Hyderabad. These have been selected as they are a little away from the conflict zone and have strong infrastructure.

BCCI has shortlisted these cities because, on 8th May, the match between Punjab and Delhi was stopped midway due to a suspected drone attack, which was linked to Operation Sindoor.

Twelve league matches and four playoff matches are still to be held. The government's approval is still pending, but this restart is still possible.

Overseas Players Are Leaving India

The IPL 2025 resumption is facing a lot of challenges because overseas players, including England's Liam Livingstone and Australia's Glenn Maxwell, are leaving India. After the suspension, more and more players are expected to leave India by 10th May, and the teams will be disbanded.

Players are taking the next available flights and leaving. The franchises are hoping that the players will return when IPL 2025 resumes. This is not a guarantee yet, but BCCI is planning well for this and is also providing safe exits.

57 Matches Done, One Cancelled Midway

The IPL 2025 Redemption Plan has come after 57 completed matches, and the 58th match was canceled midway. The BCCI has not yet decided whether this match will be replayed. Royal Challengers Bangalore, Punjab Kings, and Gujarat Titans - all three have 16 points right now and are leading the playoff race.

Chennai and Rajasthan have been eliminated. Restarting in May is a bit difficult because the players have already left, and the northern airport is also closed until 10th May.

Safety and Logistics Are a Major Concern

The IPL 2025 resumption will also have to face logistical challenges, and the most demanding task is to convince the overseas players to return and ensure their safety.

BCCI is currently entirely focused on the safety alliance. It will be decided with the government’s consent. If the venue is moved to the UAE or England, then this is also an excellent backup, but it is not considered to be more preferable.
