Kolkata Knight Riders: A lot of surprising news are coming out every day regarding next year’s IPL 2025. Now a big news has come out from the camp of three-time winners Kolkata Knight Riders. KKR who won the title in the last season i.e. IPL 2024, have released their title winning skipper Shreyas Iyer ahead of IPL 2025. In such a situation, the team is looking for a new captain.

A big update has come out regarding the new captain of the franchise. Such a name has come out regarding the captain of the Kolkata based team, which will be really difficult to believe.

According to a news report, Rinku Singh, who won a lost match for KKR by hitting five sixes in the last five balls versus the Gujarat Titans, will be the captain of Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2025. If media reports are to be believed, Rinku Singh will lead the team in place of Shreyas Iyer in IPL 2025. However, the franchise has not yet officially announced it.

Ahead of the 2025 IPL Mega- Auction, the Knight Riders retained a total of six players including the likes of Rinku Singh, Andre Russell, Varun Chakaravarthy, IPL 2024’s MVP Sunil Narine and fast bowling sensation Harshit Rana.

Hard hitting batter Rinku Singh, who was purchased in the auction by Kolkata for a price tag of 55 lakh Indian rupees, has witnessed a huge increase in his salary as he has been retained for a massive sum of 13 crore Indian rupees.

The trio of Sunil Narine, Varun Chakaravarthy and Andre Russell have been retained for 12 crore Indian rupees while the services of Harshit Rana have also been retained for 4 crore Indian upees alongside Ramandeep Singh.

The 2024 IPL Winners are searching for a new captain

The defending champions have spent a total of 57 crore rupees out of 120 crore to retain the services of the above mentioned six players. The franchise will be entering the mega-auction with a purse of 63 crore and they would be looking to build a strong squad once again in order to retain the IPL Trophy.

Earlier, some news reports suggested that the 2024 IPL winners will be targetting their former player Suryakumar Yadav to replace Iyer as the skipper but SKY has been retained by Mumbai Indians and he will be staying there for the foreseeable future.

Some reports are strongly suggesting that the KKR management will likely go ahead with Rinku as their skipper but the franchise has not given any kind of official confirmation yet.
