IPL 2025: Rishabh Pant declared as best IPL captain; MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma insulted? Check details

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) owner Sanjiv Goenka has touted Rishabh Pant as the best captain in IPL. He said that after 10-12 years, the keeper-batter will be on the same page with Rohit Sharma and Ms Dhoni as the most successful captains. 

This comes after Lucknow Super Giants appointed Rishabh Pant as captain of the team for the IPL 2025. The announcement was made official by the franchise on Monday (20th January) through a press conference at the franchise's headquarters in Kolkata. 

Rishabh Pant, who became the most expensive player in the IPL auction, will now be leading the Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL 2025. He was brought by the franchise for INR 27 crore, and expectations would be very high from him as the franchise eyes its first title.

Lucknow Super Giants owner Sanjiv Goenka hailed Rishabh Pant, saying that he hasn't seen a player with more hunger than a keeper-batter. He said that there was a born leader in Pant before putting him on the same page with Rohit and Dhoni. Speaking to Star Sports, he said: 

I have never seen a player with so much hunger and energy; he has a casual style of leadership; it is almost like the boy next door.I see a born leader in Rishabh Pant. He will probably be the best captain IPL has ever seen. People now say Mahi & Rohit are IPL’s most successful captains. Mark my words, after 10-12 years, it will be Mahi, Rohit and Pant." 

Rishabh Pant has been an incredible player in the IPL. The keeper-batter captained Delhi Capitals in the last few seasons and would be keen to take his new team to win. He would want to lead from the front and take a team to glory.
