Mumbai Indians batter Rohit Sharma is all set to achieve a massive milestone in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 clash against Chennai Super Kings. The match between the teams will be taking place at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Sunday (23rd March).

Mumbai Indians batter Rohit Sharma is on the verge of becoming the second-most capped player in the IPL. The former skipper of the franchise currently has 257 IPL matches and is tied with Dinesh Karthik with the same number of matches. The keeper-batter called time on his career last year.

Rohit Sharma, in the game against Chennai Super Kings, will become the second most capped player after MS Dhoni. The keeper-batter has featured in 264 matches. With the IPL 2025, all expected to be the last season for the former CSK skipper, Rohit is likely to go past him.

Rohit Sharma has been a stalwart in the IPL over the years. The opening batter has been one of the major reasons behind the success of Mumbai Indians. The right-hander is also the leading run-getter in the history of the league for the franchise and is the joint most successful skipper in the League.

Rohit Sharma needs 142 runs to become second-highest run-scorer in IPL history

Rohit Sharma took the leadership of Mumbai Indians in 2013 and was replaced as a captain last year with Hardik Pandya taking charge. But, during his leadership period, he made the franchise the most successful in the league with five titles under his belt.

Rohit Sharma also has slammed 5,458 runs for Mumbai Indians in 212 games. The opening batter also has hit 35 fifties and two centuries. The batter is also on the verge of becoming the second-highest run-scorer in IPL history.

Rohit Sharma, who currently has 6,628 runs, is 142 runs behind Shikhar Dhawan, who has 6,769 runs to his name. With the kind of form that he has, he will have a great opportunity to achieve the feat in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.
