Auction Details
The IPL 2025 Mega Auction is expected to take place between December 2024 and February 2025. Unlike the mini-auction held for IPL 2024, the 2025 auction will be a mega auction. Each franchise will have a limited number of retention options, with the remaining players entering the auction pool. Additionally, teams will likely be given the Right To Match (RTM) card, allowing them to retain certain players.
Match Schedule
Although there is no official confirmation yet, it is anticipated that IPL 2025 will feature a total of 84 matches. The tournament will be held from March to May 2025, with minimal international cricket scheduled during this period to ensure the availability of international players.

Each team will play:
- Twice against teams in their group.
- Once against a team in the same row of the other group.
- Once against four other teams in the other group.
Playoffs Structure
- The top four teams will advance to the playoffs.
- The top two teams will play in Qualifier 1, with the winner advancing directly to the final.
- The third and fourth teams will compete in the Eliminator.
- The winner of the Eliminator will face the loser of Qualifier 1 in Qualifier 2, with the winner securing a spot in the final.
- The final match will determine the IPL champion.
Defending Champions
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are the defending champions, having claimed their title in the 2024 season. Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) were the runners-up in that season.
