Punjab Kings (PBKS) skipper Shreyas Iyer has started his stint with the new franchise on high. The Indian batter set the stage on fire with his batting prowess in the practice game ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 at the new Stadium in Chandigarh.
Shreyas Iyer, in his first practice session for Punjab Kings, made a strong statement as he gave a glimpse of what is about to come. The premier batter carried his golden touch and played a magical innings in the warmup game, getting in the groove ahead of the IPL 2025.
Shreyas Iyer slammed a magnificent half-century in his first outing in Punjab colours. The premier batter, who was the leading run-getter for India in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, carried his golden form and surely would've gained some confidence ahead of the season.
Shreyas Iyer was the top performer for Punjab Kings in the practice game. He played a brilliant innings of 85 runs off 41 balls. Along with him young Priyansh Arya (74) and keeper-batter Prabhsimran Singh (66) shined with the bat. While Arshdeep Singh bagged two wickets.
Punjab Kings, for the last few years, have been having a tough time in the league. However, under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer, it is expected that they will do better. The franchise is yet to win the IPL title and would be keen to end their title drought this year.

Shreyas Iyer, as a captain, won the IPL last year with the Kolkata Knight Riders. The batter, however, wasn't retained by the franchise and then Punjab Kings acquired him for the whopping amount of 26.75 crores. He will be keen to justify his price tag and help a team win.

Punjab Kings will be opening their campaign against Gujarat Titans on 25th March. The game will be played at the Narendra Modi International Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad.
