IPL 2025: What changes should CSK consider in their playing 11 to be back to winning ways? Ft. Devon Conway

The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) team went on to be the most dominating side in the history of the IPL, and they have begun this season as well with sheer domination. CSK, having played two games, won their opening game, as they played either of the games on their home ground at Chepauk. 

Despite having a strengthened squad, CSK lacked in some departments, the foremost of them being their opening combination and also the batting in the middle order. Deepak Hooda has been one of the biggest flops of the CSK side, while Rahul Tripathi also could not suit the new role of an opener. 

Changes CSK should consider to back their winning ways:

1. Devon Conway in for Sam Curran 

The New Zealand opener, who has been a constant for the Chennai Super Kings over the past few seasons, formed one of the best opening pairs alongside Ruturaj Gaikwad. This time around he could not find a place in the 11 as of yet. 

Ruturaj Gaikwad has stepped in to fill in the no. 3 position in the Chennai Super Kings lineup, while Conway will form a new opening pair alongside countrymate Rachin Ravindra, who has shown some sheer domination. 

2. Anshul Kamboj in for Deepak Hooda 

The Indian bowling all-rounder, Anshul Kamboj, who excelled in the domestic seasons for Mumbai and his zone. Kamboj excelled especially with the ball, while he also has better batting prowess down the order. 

Deepak Hooda, who misfired on several occasions, considered Kamboj’s return to CSK, as he will provide an additional bowler to the Men in Yellow while also giving a striking all-rounder down the order. 

3. Vijay Shankar as an impact player 

The veteran all-rounder, who had a decent season for Tamil Nadu on the back of repetitive decent seasons with the Gujarat Titans, Vijay Shankar should finally be handed an opportunity to come in as the impact player, as he did on many occasions for the Gujarat Titans. 

Shankar is expected to perform better as compared to Rahul Tripathi since he struggled with the bat, especially after being dismissed in the same fashion on successive occasions.
