IPL Points Table (Updated) On 6th MAY after KKR vs LSG, KKR Move to TOP of IPL Points Table | CSK vs PBKS, CSK Defeat PBKS

IPL Points Table: What an upset this has been for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the IPL 2024 playoff race. Not only did they lose the two crucial points, but their net run rate has taken a dive to enter the negative territory. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have registered a magnificent win by 98 runs and thus move to the top of the IPL points table. More on the IPL Points Table later in the article.

KKR vs LSG Match Highlights

After showing an exemplary performance with the bat in hand, which saw them post a massive 235 runs, KKR turned the heat with their bowling prowesses, which restricted the KL Rahul-led Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) to a meagre score of 137 runs.

Harshit Rana and Varun Chakravarthy remained the key architects of the 98-run win as the two scalped three wickets each. All-rounder Andre Russell picked two wickets while one each went in the bag of Mitchell Starc and Sunil Narine.

LSG got a decent partnership at the start of their innings. Skipper KL Rahul and Marcus Stoinis stitched a 50-run stand, after the fall of Arshin Kulkarni at the score of 20 runs. The Rahul-Stoinis partnership was going nicely for the team, but Harshit Rana made the opening as he dismissed the LSG skipper in the 8th over.

Varun Chakravarthy in the next over sent back Deepak Hooda followed by the wicket of Marcus Stoinis in the 10th over off Andre Russell. In no time LSG was reduced to 85/4 from 69/1.

The wickets continued to fall owing to the brilliant outing by the KKR bowlers. In a jiffy, LSG lost all of their specialised batters. KKR bundled out LSG in 16.1 overs at a score of 137 runs and sealed the 98-run win.

Earlier in the game, once again, KKR got off to a sensational start with their batters piling up 70 runs in the powerplay. Sunil Narine continued his sublime touch and played a tormenting knock of 81 runs in 39 deliveries. The innings saw him hit seven sixes and 6 fours.

The innings saw handy contributions from the other batters as well, but no one could match Narine’s fire. Angkrish Raghuvanshi returned with a 26-ball 32-run knock, and Phil Salt scored 34 runs in 14 deliveries.

To finish off things, Ramandeep Singh (25* runs) and Shreyas Iyer (23 runs) added 24 runs to the total.

For the first time in this edition of the IPL, Rajasthan Royals (RR) have been displaced from the top position in the IPL Points Table. KKR moved to the top of the IPL Points Table with 16 points in 11 matches. Their 98-run win has also improved their net run rate which currently stands at 1.453.

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) has slipped to fifth place in the IPL Points Table following the loss. The team has got 6 wins and 5 losses in their 11 matches so far. They have certainly lost the plot and made their way to the IPL 2024 playoffs quite difficult. Though they will get a lot of chances still, but any more losses from now on would mean that they are constantly drifting away from the top 4 spots.

CSK improved their ranking and moved to the 3rd place after they secured a win against PBKS. The Ruturaj Gaikwad-led side is at 12 points from 11 matches. Meanwhile, PBKS is seated eighth in the table with almost a certainty that their run in the IPL 2024 will end before the playoffs.
