Is Mumbai Indians Winning the IPL 2025?
According to Dafabet, the most likely winners of the next season of IPL will be the five-time champions, Mumbai Indians who last won the title in 2021. They are followed by the other five-time winners, CSK.
Mumbai Indians (MI) are coming to IPL 2025 with a desire to end their five year drought of not winning an IPL trophy. The five time IPL champions have put together a good side with all bases covered.
Among the overseas talent, these three factors have been doing well and will be hoping to come into the 2025 edition of the IPL with good touch
Foreign Overseas
TRENT BOULT
Trent Boult has had a terrific calendar year playing various T20 tournaments across the world. The left pacer did well for the other MI franchises as he picking up 16 wickets for MI Emirates in ILT20 2024, nine wickets for MI New York in MLC 2024 and four wickets in first four games at a good economy of 6.5 for MI Cape Town in the ongoing SA20.
He will be expected to maintain the similar form coming into IPL 2025 as he will be playing a massive role in the powerplay (1-6 overs) sharing the new ball with Deepak Chahar and Jasprit Bumrah.
MITCHELL SANTNER
Mitchell Santner is been doing well across formats taking wickets in both red and white ball. The lead spinner of New Zealand recently got full time captaincy to lead New Zealand in T20 internationals.
He had a couple of tournaments for New Zealand picking 15 wickets since 2024 and taking seven wickets for Northern SuperChargers in the Hundred 2024. He had a good tour of India in October 2024 taking 13 wickets in the Pune Test match.
As he will be leading the spin bowling attack for the Mumbai Indians, Santner will be expected to maintain the good form heading into IPL 2025.
BEVON JACOBS
Bevon Jacobs was the most unexpected signing in the 2025 IPL Auction. The 22-year-old batter was signed by Mumbai Indians based just the limited T20 experience for Auckland Aces in Super Smash.
Post signing with the Mumbai franchise, he scored 147 runs in four innings at a strike rate of 152 with two fifties in the ongoing Super Smash 2025. If he comes to the IPL with a similar form, he is going to be MI's biggest x-factor as none of the Indian bowlers in IPL have ever bowled to him nor have an idea of their approach.
Jasprit Bumrah’s Fitness
Jasprit Bumrah is the best bowler in the world by some distance and his value for Mumbai Indians can not be stated enough. With the workload and his injury struggles, it is a miracle that he has only missed one IPL season since he first donned the MI jersey back in 2013.
The season he missed, 2023, MI had the worst economy rate in the entire competition. IPL 2024 was the best-scoring season ever and bowlers were taken to the cleaners with records getting broken left, right and centre. In such a nightmarish season for bowlers, Bumrah showed his class, picking 20 wickets at 6.48 runs per over. His economy rate was the best for anyone who bowled more than four overs.
But the superstar fast bowler recently had a grueling tour down under, where he terrorized the Aussie batters but was unable to bowl for the most part in the final Test due to back spasms. The injury has also put his Champions Trophy participation in jeopardy. Bumrah should recover in time for the IPL 2025 but his overall fitness and form will be a key for Mumbai Indians. If he needs to be managed during the season, that could spell disastrous for them.
Trio of Bumrah, Boult & Chahar
If Jasprit Bumrah was not enough, MI signed in two more premier pacers for their IPL 2025 campaign. Trent Boult and Deepak Chahar are masters of swing bowling when it comes to the new ball. If the conditions for bowling are good, then the pace trio of Bumrah, Boult, and Chahar can wreak havoc on the opposition batting order.
