ENGvsNZ: James Anderson becomes the most capped English Test Cricketer surpassing Alastair Cook.

ENGvsNZ: In the ongoing second test match between England and New Zealand, the host’s pacer James Anderson has included another feather to his already decorated hat, he now becomes the most capped English cricketer in the test format.

The 28-years old pacer achieved this feat in the ongoing second test game against New Zealand surpassing the previous best Alastair Cook.

Anderson has now featured in 162 Test games for England since 2003 while Alistair Cook featured in one less.

“18 years. 616 wickets. 162 Tests. Your skill, desire and sacrifice continues to amaze us all. Our most capped Test cricketer ever. Congrats @Jimmy9,” wrote England Cricket Board apricating the pacer.

He has scalped 616 wickets in the longest format of cricket, which began in 2003 and is still going strong.

The pacer is also seventh in the all time list which is led by Indian former cricketer Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar with 200 Test appearances.

Anderson revealed that he was a bit confused when he started his international career back in 2003. He doubted whether he was fit to play at the highest level or not.

“I thought I wasn’t good enough. I thought it was a huge step up from county cricket. I remember Nasser [Hussain] didn’t have a fine leg for me and I went for quite a few runs. My first ball was a no-ball as well so there were a lot of nerves there and I did feel like this was maybe a step too far for me at that point,” he said as reported by ESPNcricinfo.

The pacer also revealed that the hurdles which came his way in this journey has made him stronger to face even bigger challenges.

Besides James Anderson, Stuart Broad is the third most capped English player with 148 test games under his belt.
